The Tree of Life
After a lot of persistence I finally got the call last week, the call to work on the new film written and directed by Terrence Malick called Tree of Life starring some guys named Pitt and Pean ;-)
I am really not at liberty to talk much about it nor should I have snuck in the pictures and posted them that I did since I signed a confidentiality agreement. But oh well I doubt the Hollywood police will come after me. Well... after suffering from a horrible headache and stomach issues I finally got all better and soon found myself on the set as featured extra sprinkler guy 1. Once again no lines but by no means crowd work either. There was only about seven of us and we got some good camera time. At one point Malick was actually directing me.
We recreated a 1950's neighborhood street scene and my role was to tend to "my yard" and my water sprinkler. It was pretty surreal looking around and seeing everything. I felt as though I had stepped back in time to 1955! The houses, yards, white picket fences, cars, and the costumes were all to real. The town we were shooting in is very picturesque and I can see why they choose it to represent the 1950's.
Sure once again I was nothing more than a featured extra but I still had a lot of fun and it was quite a trip to go back in time, not unlike Marty McFly, to the 1950's! I did not encounter the usual PA who tells everybody to "stay in the holding area" and "those snacks are for crew only" etc... Instead we were respected and treated very well. It was a relaxed and wonderful set.
